I Resolve...
Out with the old, in with the new. The change of the year signals a need to change, renew, become more the kind of person we imagine ourselves to be. Usually, these resolutions fall into just a few categories. Using items from the museum collection and on loan, we will explore the kinds of resolutions people make.

Walking a Mile: Culture and Identity Underfoot
A recent report suggested that we can correctly predict 90% of a person’s character just by looking at their shoes. Using footwear from the museum collection and on temporary loan, the exhibit looks at some possible responses we might have to shoes. There’s a lot going on under foot! We’ve even given a chance for your shoes to make it to our ‘Walk of Fame’.

Prolific Delta
Named for the 1912 publication of the same title, this new exhibit explores life in Delta in 1912. The exhibit features 1912 newpaper clippings and everyday objects from the era. Prolific Delta is presented in celebration of the 100th Anniversary of the Delta Municipal Hall Building.

A Delta Self-Portrait: Photographs of Delta by Deltans
The magic of a photograph is its ability to provide us with a little piece of the past. Delta's rich history, beautiful landscapes and memorable moments have been captured in photographic form by the residents of Delta for more than a century. We will be bringing some of our best photographic memorabilia out of the Archival vault and out on display. All photos will be on sale for purchase and can be picked up just in time for the Christmas season starting December 17th.

The Life of a Delta Bee
Join Beatrice the Honeybee (her friends call her Bea) as she walks you through life as a bee in Delta and introduces you to herself, family, friends, enemies and her work around the community. Participate in activities as you learn about current and historic issues facing Delta’s bee-buzzing population.
Explore the stories of past beekeepers in Delta; the roles of beekeeping and apiaries in agriculture, and of pollination and honey production. Delve into today’s issues facing the beekeeping community including commercial agriculture, colony collapse and predators. Relax as Beatrice guides you through stories of the Delta’s bees in this fun family-friendly exhibit.
Come and learn more about Delta’s honey production; find your inner beekeeper instincts while discovering how you can make the life of a Delta bee easier. Join us in celebrating the work of Delta’s bees as they enhance our daily lives pollinating our gardens and food crops, producing honey, and providing insight to scientific research.

To Protect and Conserve
To Protect and Conserve illustrated the history of ecological conservation in Delta. The exhibit traced the history of two of Delta’s most important environmental sites – The George C. Reifel Migratory Bird Sanctuary and Burns Bog. Both sites were used as farms for many years before becoming the conservation areas we know today. The exhibit also commented on the, sometimes strained, relationship between the farmers of Delta and its wildlife inhabitants and the current status of that relationship. Archival photographs and museum objects helped to tell this story.

Border, Bay, and Beach: Always in the Headlines
This exhibit provided a look into the development of areas in and around South Delta. Visitors discovered the changes in the community and the landscape of this distinct area of Delta.

 A Hot Topic: Climate Change on the Delta
Climate change is considered by many scientists to be the most serious threat facing the world today.  As governments struggle to deal with the issues, what are we doing to help? What will the consequences be?  With much of Delta being at sea level, should we be concerned?  With the assistance of the UBC Collaborative for Advanced Landscape Planning study Deltans can find out.  As you visit the exhibit we invite you to question, analyze and think about the information presented.  Climate change is a hot topic and we hope to spark dialogue on the future of Delta and the world.
